Ingredients

  • 50 gms butter

  • 200 gms mushrooms, sliced

  • 150 gms tomato purée

  • 200 gms cheddar cheese, grated

  • 4 slices toast

  • A pinch of cayenne pepper (or Kashmiri chilly powder)

  • Salt to taste

Directions

  • Heat butter in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for 3 minutes until they begin to soften.
  • Stir in the cayenne pepper, tomato purée, grated cheddar cheese, and salt.
  • Cook on a low flame for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are tender and the cheese has melted.
  • While the mixture cooks, toast the bread slices and butter them while still hot.
  • Spoon the hot mushroom and cheese mixture over each slice of toast.
  • Serve immediately.
